Water supply systems for nearly 30,000 residents are nearing completion in the Dnipropetrovsk region
In the southern part of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, the construction of new water supply and wastewater systems is entering its final stage. Once the facilities are put into operation, nearly 30,000 residents of 49 communities — who lost a reliable water source following the destruction of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant in 2023 — will receive a stable water supply.
In one of the communities — which comprises 35 settlements with approximately 18,000 residents — the pumping and filtration station is already 99% complete. The project involves laying 8.8 km of water mains and nearly 2 km of external sewer lines. The station’s capacity will be 1,500 m³ of water per day, with the possibility of increasing it to 3,000 m³. Work is scheduled to be completed in October 2026.
In the second community, the new system will provide water to approximately 11,000 residents across 14 settlements. Here, 1.57 km of water mains and 5.25 km of sewer networks are being laid. The plant is 87% complete, and construction is scheduled to be finished in November 2026.
Once both projects are completed, the communities will have a comprehensive water supply and wastewater infrastructure. For a significant portion of these settlements, this is the first time a centralized wastewater system is being established, which should improve wastewater management and reduce the environmental impact.
