Kernel and the EBRD Will Allocate €1 Million to Train Technical Specialists in Ukraine
Kernel and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development have signed a €1 million grant agreement for human capital development. The funds will be used to train young technical specialists and create an accessible work environment at the company’s production facilities.
One of the project’s key areas will be the creation of modern training laboratories at four vocational and technical colleges — in Odesa, Poltava, Kropyvnytskyi, and Starokostiantyniv. These labs will be equipped with technology for the practical training of electricians, production automation specialists, and other technical professionals.
Over the course of five years, the laboratories are expected to train approximately 600 young professionals for the agricultural sector, industry, and renewable energy. The initiative aims to help businesses and regions address the shortage of skilled workers, which has been exacerbated by the war.
The second component of the program involves modernizing Kernel’s production facilities in accordance with the principles of accessibility and universal design. Solutions will be developed in collaboration with veterans returning to civilian work.
The project is being implemented as part of the EBRD’s Human Capital Investment Incentive (HCII) grant program, launched to support Ukrainian companies in overcoming workforce challenges. Donor support is provided by the TaiwanBusiness–EBRD Technical Cooperation Fund.
