Twenty-four Ukrainian companies have already joined the private air defense project
According to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, as of April 2026, companies from the Kharkiv, Odesa, Kyiv, Poltava, Zakarpattia, and other regions of Ukraine have joined the private air defense initiative.
The project was launched in late 2025 at the initiative of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine to provide additional protection for employees and production facilities of enterprises that are regularly targeted by drone attacks.
Important: private air defense is not a separate, uncontrolled entity, but rather part of the country’s multi-layered air defense system coordinated by the Ukrainian Air Force.
Groups are formed from civilian employees who:
• have undergone special training;
• have received certificates and clearances;
• are authorized to use specific air defense systems within designated sectors and time frames.
The project includes individuals who, in accordance with the law, are not subject to mobilization, as well as representatives of the enterprises’ paramilitary security forces.
