About 80% of the fish products on Ukraine’s domestic market are imported. Therefore, the government has expanded its financial assistance program for aquaculture businesses engaged in the breeding, rearing, and farming of freshwater fish. While in 2025 support was limited to de-occupied and war-affected territories, the program now covers the entire country.

State support for the fishing industry in 2025–2026 includes both financial instruments and measures to stimulate product sales.
